The Hydroflow® Centrifuge Filter System

Economical Performance

Economical Filtration and Customized Design Capabilities

The Hydroflow® standard centrifuge product line consists of many combinations of centrifuge models, tank sizes, and pump pressures used with the standard performance model SP-1205 single bowl, the standard performance model SP-2400 double bowl, the high performance model HP-20 single bowl or model HP-40 double bowl. These systems are often combined with high capacity cartridge filters to polish the fluid and remove fines below the limit of the centrifuge alone. Ideal applications include tool and cutter grinding, glass and ceramic grinding, filtering honing and microfinishing oil, vibratory finishing, wire drawing and the most widely used application for the Hydroflow® centrifuge…all types of carbide grinding.

Principle of
Operation

An open-topped rotor bowl is driven at high speed. Into this is fitted a long-life removable flexible rotor liner shaped to the inner contour of the rotor. The rotor liner is secured by a removable vane assembly. Dirty coolant enters at the top of the rotor assembly and is deflected by the center cone towards the base of the bowl. Centrifugal force acts on the dirty coolant, packing the foreign matter into a “cake” against the wall of the rotor liner. The cleaned coolant or oil overflows into the clean tank and is returned to the machine tool by a separate pump.

Custom
Designed
Solutions for
Every Need

The standard line of Hydroflow® centrifuge systems, shown in the chart, is supplemented by speciality designed systems, adapted from the standard product line to solve specific filtration problems. Unique filtration requirements are easily handled by Hydroflow’s expertise. Whatever the need… from centrifuge filtration for a single machine tool or central system for a complete plant… We have the solution. Hydroflow® centrifuge systems, provide a steady flow of clean, reusable coolant or oil resulting in fewer work piece rejects and maximum tool life.

Flexible
Rotor Liner

For clean and speedy disposal of the sludge cake extracted from the coolant, the centrifuge is fitted with a long-life flexible rotor liner. Frequency of emptying the liner depends largly on the stock removal rate. The proceedure takes only a few minutes and can be shortened even further by using spare rotor liners. The flexible rotor liner collects solids up to a capacity of approximately 250 cubic inches. This allows a sludge cake of up to 20/50 lbs. to build up depending on the solids density.
